You wanna talk about inspiring?

I just got off the phone with Kama about an hour ago.  My mind is still reeling with how inspriring that woman is.  She has had a rough few months and losing her mom yesterday was devastating, but you know what she told me?  Her food intake was still there in her mind.  She recognized that she wanted to drown her sorrow in food and DIDN’T DO IT!  She went to a mexican resturaunt and had fish and black beans.  She continues with her workouts, she continues to log on here and support us.  She is an amazing woman and when I want to reach for that cookie or extra piece of chocolate because I’m stressed I am keeping Kama in the front of MY mind.

Thank you Kama for teaching us all that no matter what life throws at you, whether it’s a rough day at work, finances, or the death of a loved one, there is still a reason to stay on plan.

 Love you!

Hannah has opened 96,400 cards so far with more to go

Thank you all so much for caring as only buddyslimmers can!

Well at least his intentions were good…I think

Happy Day After Christmas Buddies!!!!  How is everyone doing today?  Groggy yet?  I know I am :)  How was Christmas?  Get to spend time with family and friends?  Share some blessings?  Was Santa good to you?  I had a wonderful Christmas :)  It was hectic as only Christmas can be with an eight year old and both my parents and Tim’s parents are divorced and remarried, but I am very blessed to have so many people in my life that it’s hard to make time for all of them. :)  One of my most favorite gifts of the holiday was getting to finally talk to Nancy on the phone!  Yes, she is as bubbly and energetic on the phone as she is on here!  Love ya girl!

My dad and step-mom got us the Wii and I love it!  I got to box with my brother last night and knocked him out cold.  It is a great upper body workout.  Unfortunately I didn’t get the Wii Fit though because they were all sold out, but that’s okay…it’s next on my list!

Now I’m sure Tim’s intentions were good, but I gotta vent here a bit.  He got me 40 PAIRS of socks!  20 pairs of white and 20 pairs of black!  Seriously?!  I mean there has to be a joke in here somewhere right?  WRONG!  Literally….40 freaking pairs of socks….LMAO!  I’m sure his intentions were good, but I’m still a bit “miffed” at his train of thought here.  Granted, he did get me the purse that I wanted as well but I keep going back to the socks.  Hehehe…

So tell my buddies, what were some of your favorite times over the past two days?  I want to hear about the gifts that you loved and the ones that can give my socks a run for their money.  I want to hear about the memories of your family that you will always cherish and I want to hear about the “I can’t believe I’m related to these people” stories!!

Come on…It’s time to share!

Thanks everyone…An update on Hannah…

Thanks to everyone that responded to my last blog about 4 year old little Hannah.  She has now become a national “celebrity” that is reminding everyone on what Christmas is all about.  I’m sure Hannah wasn’t expecting to change the outlooks of so many people with her simple wish.  Last night there were 50+ fire trucks, ambulances, police cars, and members of the community that went to Hannah and delivered over 700 Christmas cards to her.  She has made national news with her story.  Our local tidbit of news can be found here:  http://www.wgal.com/hotlinks/18312086/detail.html

Everyday the DJ updates us on Hannah and this morning said that she was in good spirits.  Michelle (the DJ) breaks down and cries every time she shares Hannah’s story as she personally knows Hannah and Hannah’s family.

Today I want you to sit back and pat yourself of the back for being such caring and loving people.  Hannah’s family has promised to devote their Christmas to reading each and every card to her so know that she will hear your message.  My appreciation for all of you cannot be put into words so again I will just say how proud I am to be a part of such a wonderfully caring community.

Merry Christmas

 Love,

Anj

VERY Important…please, please read!

Hi Buddies,

I just wanted to take a moment to ask a favor of all of you.  I received something in my personal email yesterday that I want to forward to all of you.  (The email is below)  At first I thought this was spam (like so many others) but then I heard the DJ talk about it on the radio this morning and how she personally knows this little girl and would appreciate the extra support.  I’m calling on all of you know to continue to show your Christmas spirit and add this little girl to your Christmas card list if you can.  If not, please keep her and her family in your thoughts.

 Thanks!

Anj

Hello! It is extremely rare that I use my girl scout mailing lists for sharing emails outside of girl scout purposes.   But this is a true story (Ruth Tshudy – J256 leader – knows Hannah) and another leader forwarded this email to me about a girl in the Lititz area.

Let’s help Hannah’s wish come true!!          Veronica

This is the true story of 5-yr old, Hannah Garman, who was
diagnosed with glioblastoma multiforme, a rare and incurable brain tumor.
She has been given 12 weeks to live and is currently in her 7th week. She
was going to be the flower girl in a wedding in May, but was diagnosed
A week after we asked her to be the flower girl. This is especially sad
because her mother died 2 yrs ago from breast cancer.

Right now she has lost most of her motor skills. She is confined to bed
And cannot really do anything or play with the gifts she is getting from
people, but she LOVES getting cards - she has gotten so many from people she does
not know and just loves to have grandma read about the people who send
Them and see their pictures and is so proud of all her cards. Her room is just
filled with cards.

When asked what she wants for Christmas she said she wants to see how
Many Christmas cards she can get. Many people have passed this wish along to
their churches, prayer groups, friends and family. There are school groups
where children are making her cards. People are including pictures so she
can see who it is that is sending her the card.

If you would like to help with her wish, you can send a card to her at:

Hannah Garman
704 Orchard Rd
Lititz, PA  17543

THANKS! Feel free to pass this along to your own prayer group, church,
school, etc. Let’s see if we can have the cards coming in big postal bags
for her this Christmas, since it will be her last holiday.

P.S. You can also send my email to anyone you forward this to, if they
Have questions. sheripie@hotmail.com

You get out what you put in

Hi buddies!  I just wanted to send out a reminder to some of you that might be feeling frustrated or might not be thinking you get the support you need on Buddyslim.  Buddyslim has been a great place for me and for TONS of other people, but I admit that it’s not for everyone.  It also is just like your weight loss journey.  You get out what you put into it.  I’m sure some veterans of the site will agree with me that if you don’t blog, comment on other blogs or post in forums it makes it really hard for others to know that you are out there and that you need support.  If you put the dedication into your weight loss with tracking your food, keeping food within limits, exercising and all that good stuff…you are going to see results!  It’s the same thing here.  The support is there and waiting for you….you just need to wave your arms and get someones attention.  To those of you that are here checking up on others and holding each other accountable…thank you!  For that is what Buddyslim is all about.  For those of you that feel like you are getting lost in the maze, grab on and hold on tight.  It’s a great ride if you want it to be one. :)

Thinspiration, a big thank you, and my tree

Wanted to share a picture of my tree with you.  That corner of my house is my little slice of heaven right now.  I love how a Christmas tree can make your house feel so cozy and warm.

I also need to send out a GIGANTIC thank you to Nancy, Kama, Tracey, Lori, Jane, and Nicole.  I found out yesterday that my husband will be getting laid off at the end of the week.  These ladies have been a huge support for me and are keeping me and my family in their thoughts and prayers.  They have also made me realize that even when things are bad…they could be worse.   Tim may be getting laid off, but I still have my job.  Money will be tight, but money isn’t everything.  Family and friends like all of you are what really matters.

Oh yes, and thinspiration!  Kama’s blog inspired something that I’m working on today and wanted to share with you all.  I am making a “thinspiration” wall.  See, since I have lost 50 pounds I have been slacking.  Lost my mojo.  Need some inspiration to get thin!  I am taking the words from Kama’s blog and printing them out along with some pictures and a pair of skinny jeans.  I’m tacking it all to the wall in my bedroom where the treadmill is.  I know that I could come up with 50 different excuses of why I have stopped with my weight loss goals and given 3 more minutes I could come up with 50 more.  But that is all they are…excuses!  I am the only one holding me back.  Just as I was the only one that lost the 50 pounds to begin with.  There are no excuses.  I am not a quitter and I’m not one to fail.  I have 15 pounds to go.  And in the words of my late pappy “Jumpin’ up anyhow” I’m gonna get there!  So here is some “thinspiration” for you all as well:

My will shall shape the future.

Whether I fail or succeed shall be no man’s doing but my own.

I am the force; I can clear any obstacle before meor I can be lost in the maze.

My choice; win or lose, only I hold the key to my destiny.

For Angela and all other Billy Blanks lovers…you can have him!

Well, you all don’t have to worry about me fighting you for a date with Billy Blanks.  I have a new love!  His son!!!!!  I stumbled on to Billy Blanks Jr.’s workouts this morning on Exercise TV.  Cardioke!  Ever heard of it?  Well it’s cardio dance moves combined with karaoke for a totally different experience.  Kinda like Sweatin’ to the Oldies, but much easier on the eyes and on the nerves.  (I never could stand Richard  Simmons, lol).  Anyway, the songs and moves look like a wonderful time for all to be had.  The one thing I don’t understand is that when you are doing a cardio workout you shouldn’t really be able to talk more than 35 words in a row or your heart rate isn’t high enough.  So, how is this to work?  Mr. Billy (that’s my pet name for him) says it’s to test your stamina.  We’ll see. ;)  Oh, the other thing I really like about it is that his wife is just as high energy as he is.  Yes ladies, we need to share with his wife.  Nancy….she actually reminds me alot of you.  She gets her bootie bounces on, that’s for sure!  And my absolute favorite part of the entire workout is the cool down at the end.  Mrs. Billy wrote a song.  It’s so inspirational and wonderful that I got all teary.  Granted, I cry at the Folger’s commercials they play at  Christmas and most Hallmark commercials as well, plus P(a)MS is knocking at my door wanting in…but still!

So please, if you get a second check it out!  Either On Demand if you have Comcast or check out ExerciseTV.com  If you can’t find it, shoot me an email and I will see if I can help. :)

As for me, I am doing okay.  I’m still recovering from surgery and go back to the doctor on Tuesday for my check up.  Until then I can’t lift, squat, bend, or kneel, and walking is limited.  Soooo, no workouts at least until next week.  Speaking of workouts…it is official we are getting a Wii for Christmas!!!!  Woohoo!  My Dad is getting if for us as a family gift.  Now my dilemma is should I start saving my dough for a Wii Fit or an elliptical?  Any opinions would be greatly appreciated!

Also stressing a bit because my daughter’s birthday is on Monday and Christmas is lurking.  The good thing is Paige isn’t very materialistic which is surprising considering she is 8.  She is more worried about making cupcakes for her class more that she is about getting gifts.  :)

I don’t think there is much else that is new with me.  What about all of you?
